Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2005: Photography enthusiasts have every reason to smile with the launch of a nationwide photography competition titled Horses in Focus by Asiapromote Ventures, the organiser of the FEI World Cup Final Jumping 2006.
The competition was launched by Duli Yang Maha Mulia, Sultan of Terengganu, whose passion for horses has led him to support equestrian sports in Malaysia.
“The aim of this competition,” says Peter Imran Winton, co-principal of Asiapromote Ventures, “is to generate wider awareness of these noble steeds. It will also help to heighten the interest for the development of equine sports in Malaysia.”
From its existence in its natural environment, to its bonding with humans, and its role in sports and culture, the horse has always been a magnificent animal. “Through this competition, we hope photographers will capture the beauty, grace, power and majesty of the horse,” says Wan Zaleha Radzi, co-principal of Asiapromote Ventures.
“There are equestrian events and horse-related activities held all over Malaysia and it will give photographers a chance to capture images of horses in different locations and concurrently help promote domestic tourism,” adds Zaleha
From Asiapromote Ventures’ perspective, the competition is a way of engaging Malaysians and creating excitement for the upcoming FEI World Cup Final Jumping in 2006 which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 26 – 30 April 2006.
Malaysia joins the international ranks in the world of equestrian sports as it becomes the first Asian country in 27 years to host the FEI World Cup Final Jumping 2006.
The FEI World Cup Final Jumping 2006 is an important milestone for equestrian sports in Malaysia and Asia, one which will give riders in this region an opportunity to compete at the world’s most important jumping event.
Closing deadline for the Horses in Focus photography competition is 31 January 2006. The competition is open to all and the photographs must be taken in Malaysia. The Grand Prize winner will receive RM5,000 and one Paddock Club season ticket to the FEI World Cup Final Jumping 2006.
The top five prize winners will receive RM1,000 and a prize from FujiFilm and the ten consolation prize winners will each receive RM500.
