A car was presented to the delighted students and teachers of Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) Sabak Bernam by Asiapromote Ventures Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director, Puan Wan Zaleha Radzi at a prize presentation ceremony here recently. SBPI Sabak Bernam was the overjoyed winner of the grand prize of the lucky draw that was held at the FEI World Cup Jumping Final 2006 at Putra Stadium in April this year.
“The lucky draw was held to draw more people to Putra Stadium to watch a historic event unfold, and to introduce equestrian sport to those who are not familiar with the sport,” said Wan Zaleha Radzi. The winning ticket was drawn by the Guest of Honour, Deputy Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak from over 100,000 ticket stubs collected over the five days at the FEI World Cup Jumping Final held at Putra Stadium in April this year.
Encik Halim Mansor, Principal, Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Sabak Bernam remarked, “the Proton Savvy 1.2 is like a wonderful birthday present for the school as we just turned four on July 8. We will use the vehicle for school purposes like sending students to the clinic for medical treatment or to competitions.”
The lucky draw grand prize was received on behalf of the students and teachers of Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Sabak Bernam by Cikgu Izmayudy bin Sunzairi. A total of 80 students and teachers from the school were at the FEI World Cup Jumping Final for two days to watch showjumping at its best. A total of 12,000 students were invited to the FEI World Cup Jumping Final who were brought to the Stadium in 300 buses, out of which 60 of them brought schoolchildren from towns like Sabak Bernam, Teluk Intan, Kuala Kangsar, Seremban and Melaka.
This is the first time that students and teachers outside the Klang Valley were invited to witness a world-class international equestrian event. “The objective of inviting schoolchildren to the event was to introduce them to the world of horses and equestrian sports. We hope that an international event like the FEI World Cup Jumping Final will be an eye opener to schoolchildren. Who knows, one day one of the students may become a well-known rider or pursue a career in the equine industry,” added Wan Zaleha Radzi.
The FEI World Cup Jumping Final 2006 created a milestone in the history of world equestrian sports as Malaysia became the first country outside Europe and North America to host the world’s most important and prestigious showjumping event.
