Calling all aspiring filmmakers and photographers!
Here’s your chance to showcase your creativity and win RM10,000 and RM5,000 in cold hard cash
From the mythical wing-horse Pegasus to Alexander the Great’s mighty Bucephalus and the spirited race-horse Seabiscuit, the legacy of the horse has been immortalised in history books and attributed for the spread of civilisations.
To acknowledge and paying tribute to this impressive creatures, the FEI5-star KL Grand Prix 2007, in partnership with Samsung recently launched a short film and photography competition that pays tribute to the beauty and magnificence of horses.
These two competitions, aptly titled Power & Grace Short Film Competition and Power & Grace Photography Competition, serve to draw attention to the elegance and sheer power of the horse.
The short film competition is divided into two categories; an Open category and a Student category. Drawing inspiration from Power & Grace, participants are required to use their creativity and artistic skills to portray the horse as an individual, thinking and living athlete. Submissions need to be in DVD format and must not be more than 20 minutes in length, excluding credits.
The winner of the Open Category wins RM10,000 and a Samsung DX10 Camcoder whilst the winner of the Student Category receives RM5,000 and a Samsung MX10 Camcoder. Only the Student Category offers prizes for runner-up positions; the first runner-up walks way with RM3,000 whilst the second runner-up and third runner-up receive RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.
All entries for the Power & Grace Short Film Competition must reach Asiapromote Ventures Sdn Bhd on or before November 30, 2007.
Moving along the same lines of the Short Film Competition, the Online Photography Competition aims to generate more interest and awareness on horses amongst Malaysians. Aspiring photographers are required to creatively capture the distinct attributes of this majestic and noble creature.
The winner of this competition gets RM5,000 and a Samsung NV20 Digital Camera. The first runner-up receives RM3,000 whilst the second runner-up and third runner-up each win RM2,000 and RM1,000. There are also 10 consolation prizes up for grabs in this competition.
In addition to the cash prizes, the winners for both competitions will be given their moment of fame as their winning submissions will be put on display at the exhibition area of the FEI 5-Star KL Grand Prix 2007, which takes place from November 23 till 25. The winning Short Films will also be broadcast on Astro.
Photographers must submit their entries to Asiapromote Ventures Sdn Bhd before or on October 24, 2007.
To enter the Power & Grace Short Film and Online Photography competitions, hopefuls must be residents of Malaysia aged 18 and above. Entry forms for the competitions can be obtained from the FEI 5-Star KL Grand Prix website, www.klgrandprix.com. Participants must then submit their entries together with a completed entry form to:
