At the first ever FEI Regional Dressage Forum in Kuala Lumpur (December 3-5, 2008), mental training workshops and riding clinics will also be conducted by:
« Dr. Rico Schuijers, sports psychologist and mental trainer of three-time Olympic gold medallist Anky van Grusven and the Dutch Olympic Team.
« Jan Bemelmans, Germany’s top trainer and national trainer of the Spanish Dressage Team, who had successes at the 2002 World Championships, 2003 European Championships and 2004 Olympics.
MENTAL TRAINING WORKSHOPS
Dr. Schuijers’ expertise is very much in demand from riders of all equestrian disciplines. His speciality is concentration in sports where he teaches athletes to handle suspense and derivation, reverse and success. He will share some insight into the influence of the mental state of the equestrian athlete on the state of the horse, and practical, ready-to-use skills to become aware of thoughts and feelings during training and competitions at his workshops.
He has trained the reigning European team gold and bronze medallist Imke Schellekens-Bartels, Edward Gal, team silver medallist at the 2005 European Championships and 2006 World Equestrian Games, and three-time Olympic gold medallist Anky van Grusven.
He trains not only athletes and coaches, but air force pilots, Dutch and European air traffic controllers, choirmasters and musicians, too.
He will conduct three workshops – first on Self-Confidence, the second on Stress and the third on Concentration/Focusing.

RIDING CLINIC
Jan Bemelmans, Germany’s Top Trainer, is conducting personal training for riders who would like to improve their flatwork.
One of Germany’s top trainers, Jan has also trained many international grand prix riders. He has schooled a big number of horses like Amazonas, Angelino, Goldfever and Americo up to Grand Prix Level.
Originally from Belgium, this very well-known trainer was a successful grand prix rider himself with 50 international grand prix wins to his name.
