PROTON KL GRAND PRIX CSI 5*

KL Interior Designer wins Proton Satria Special Edition

A Proton Satria Special Edition was presented to a delighted Michelle Cho Cheng Geok by Asiapromote Ventures Sdn. Bhd.’s principals Wan Zaleha Radzi and Peter Imran Winton at a prize presentation ceremony today.

“One of the objectives of the KL Grand Prix is to promote equestrian sports to the general public and increase awareness of the development of the sport and be a catalyst for the horse industry in the region.

“To attract more people to the only major international top-league equestrian event in Asia, we promoted daily lucky draws, and I believe we succeeded in attracting more followers to the sport. And why not? It is one of the most breathtakingly exciting sports on the planet. On Sunday we had more than 10,000 excited and very enthusiastic visitors watching the world’s best taking themselves and their horses to the limit to win the KL Grand Prix”, said Wan Zaleha Radzi.

She added, “The lucky draw was also to increase audience participation and to make their visit to the event more exciting.  Lucky draw prizes included riding lessons and riding holidays from the Malaysian Armed Forces Equestrian Centre, starters packs and reload cards from Celcom as well as hampers from Asiapromote Ventures.

The winning ticket was drawn from a total of 25,000 ticket stubs by the Guest of Honour and Patron of the KL Grand Prix, YABhg. Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

The Proton Satria 1.5 Special Edition, donated by the organiser Asiapromote, was the Grand Prize of a series of lucky draws held during the 2004 Proton KL Grand Prix CSI 5*. The sporty vibrant yellow Proton Satria, worth RM49,000, comes with new special 16-inch sport rims, smoke gunmetal finish instrumentation panel, race-style interior with sporty graphics, ergonomic gear shift, slick aluminium pedals, colour coordinated carpets and hollow race-type headrests.

“This is a milestone for the sport because we believe it’s the first time a car has been won by a spectator rather than the winner of a grand prix event,” Wan Zaleha also remarked.

Lucky winner Michelle Cho, an interior designer, said, “This is an incredible surprise. I never expected to win the grand prize but I did hope. It really is a fabulous present for the New Year.  Now I’m going to show off my brand new car to all my friends and relatives”.

Michelle added, “I did not plan to watch the KL Grand Prix but since my friend gave me a ticket, I went.  I didn’t know much about showjumping before the KL Grand Prix but now I love it. I’ll be back there every year for sure.  After the Chinese New Year, I’m definitely signing up for riding lessons.”

The KL Grand Prix CSI 5* - International Horse Show is an international top-league, indoor showjumping event where the best riders from the world’s ranking list request to be invited to compete.  It is the only equestrian event in Asia where visitors will find Olympians, World Cup champions, World Champions and gold, silver and bronze medallists with their best horses all in a single venue riding to win the title.
